Operating Principle of self-operating Swimming Pool security Covers

All automatic swimming pool protection cover systems have the same basic develop which consists of a flexible cover material, a roll up drum, a tracking system with rope take up reels and a powertrain.

Pulling the cover material off the swimming pool is closed by the turning of the roll up drum which the cover wraps up on, while pulling the cover on to the swimming pool is closed by the turning of a set of reels which the cover ropes wrap up on. The ropes and cover material run straight through a multi-channeled track having a pulley at one end. The ropes are then threaded straight through a pulley system which routes them to the rope take up reels.

There are two basic powertrains for an automatic swimming pool protection cover system; the first being an galvanic gear motor driven and the second being a hydraulic fluid driven.

Electric motor driven - This type of system is driven by any whole of brands and sizes of galvanic gear motors (suited for the size and configuration of the pool cover) located at the drive end of the mechanism. The gear motor turns in the direction of desired cover travel. Switching of direction is closed by a simple set of reversed single-dog gears and a double-dog gear. Adjustable torque-limiting devices are used to limit stress on the system at the ends of the covers tour as well as acting as stop sensors. The galvanic motors being used by today's manufacturers are designed especially for this application and are thoroughly submersible, so water damaged motors have come to be a thing of the past.

Hydraulic fluid driven - This type of system is operated by hydraulic fluid pressure generated by a hydraulic pump, which is ordinarily located at the pool tool pad. The hydraulic pressure (usually below 1000 psi.) is supplied by two hydraulic lines from the hydraulic pump to the hydraulic motor or motors at the drive end of the mechanism. With a particular hydraulic motor application the same double-dog as above is used to switch direction of travel. With a dual-motor application a complicated is used to switch direction of travel. Adjustable pressure relief-valves are used to limit stress on the system at the ends of cover tour as well as acting as stop sensors.
